  • About this winery

Viña Montes is a modern-day success story. • Tasting notes

Aromatic nose with outstanding aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberries and figs. Aromas of crème de cassis meld with mild notes of leather and dark chocolate, which are very characteristic of Syrah from Colchagua. The palate is well balanced with rich acidity, incredibly smooth tannins, tremendous structure, and generous volume.

  • Viticultural notes

The vineyards that give rise to the Montes Alpha Syrah are located in two very representative zones in the Colchagua Valley—Apalta and Marchigüe. These two areas have soils of granitic origin in different degrees of decomposition and highly varying amounts of clay, depth, and organic matter. Leaves are pulled from around the Syrah bunches after veraison to encourage good ventilation.

  • Winemaking notes

55% of the wine was aged for 12 months in first, second, and third-use French oak barrels.

    March 2018

A fine and delicate syrah with chocolate, spice, meat and pepper character. Medium body, light tannins and a juicy finish.
