At heart, Catena is a story about family. Family who poured their lives, passion and spirit into transforming scrub-laden desert into some of the most beautiful and unique vineyards in the world. Family that passed their knowledge from generation to generation, blending collective memory with state-of-the-art science from the new world of viticulture. Family who, through risk-taking, faith and a little luck, transformed their treasured Mendoza terroir into the fountainhead of the award-winning...
The Catena Chardonnay exhibits the distinct aromas and flavors typical of its vineyard counterparts: Agrelo vineyard brings citrus and peach fruit flavors; Villa Bastías contributes stone fruit aromas and a rich, supple texture; and Gualtallary produces the lively floral notes, strong mineral character and bright acidity.
The Catena wines are a special assemblage of High Mountain Estate Vineyards made by fourth generation vintner, Laura Catena and chief winemaker, Alejandro Vigil. Although we have found that most of the Catena wines are consumed shortly after release, we are pleased to see that they age beautifully for ten to twenty years. Through decades of study and exploration within Mendoza's high altitude mountain terroirs, the Catena family has identified special locations for its Estate vineyards. From the marriage of these historic vineyards emerges a wine of unique character that has natural balance, concentration and a distinct varietal identity. Agrelo (950m), Villa Bastias (1120m) and Gualtallary (1450m) are the parcels selected for this cuvee.

Aromas of sliced apple and lemon follow through to a full body, with creamy texture and lovely stone and apple flavors. White peaches too. Subtle and flavorful.See detailed press review
