  • Tasting notes

Crimson in colour with purple hues. A rich and dense aroma of Satsuma plum and raspberries mingle with sweet spice, chocolate hints and savoury tones. The palate offers rich, sweet and spicy fruit in balance with velvety yet youthfully austere tannins. A complex, medium to full bodied wine showing hints of mocha and vanilla, which flow through to the lengthy, fruitful, pepper and spice finish.

  • Viticultural notes

2013 was a vintage of highs and lows. Fortunately, the highs were the quality of grapes and the lows were smaller yields due to extremely low rainfall during winter and spring. Overall, the quality is high with intense colour and flavour, ripe tannins and acidity that surpassed expectations.

Valley Floor Shiraz grapes were grown on vines ranging from 9 to 100 years old.

  • Winemaking notes

The Barossa Valley is famous for its viticulture, history and winemaking dating back to the 1840s. At its heart is the Valley Floor, a highly-prized strip of prime viticultural land which is the very foundation and forms the essence of this wine. A true taste of the Barossa.

Local knowledge has helped Chief Winemaker, Paul Lindner, select and secure prized Shiraz across the breadth and depth of the Barossa while retaining the foundation fruit from the Valley Floor. The combination of hands-on winemaking and vineyard diversity results in pure Barossa Shiraz.

    July 2017

    Opulent, supple, hedonistic.
Outstanding wine with a true hedonistic character. Notes of Mulberry, sarsaparilla, black cherry, rich mocha, finely ground pepper and brown spices. It is equally opulent on the palate; salty and sweet with generous fruit supple weight and plush texture. The finish is nearly unending.
Pair: Ribs, chili and burgers or anything you can throw on the grill.

    August 2017

Verging on opaque, with a glint of garnet at the edge, this is archetypal Barossan shiraz: plum, dark cherry, a whiff of mace and anise, set to a core of explosive liqueur-soaked dried fruits. Full, yet fresh...

Finally, if it’s a “go big or go home” kind of Father’s Day, well it doesn’t get much bigger or bolder than Langmeil’s intense Valley Floor Shiraz. This is quintessential Barossa Valley powerhouse Shiraz, which is to say that this red marries sumptuous, ripe dark fruit and mocha tones with remarkable elegance. The full, richly textured yet balanced finish carries the theme. Here’s the bottle for when you simply need a wine to chew on — ideally while chewing on herb-bedecked grilled lamb.
