  • About this winery

The Delormes of Domaine de la Mordorée are a lovely family, committed to their terroir in the broadest possible sense. For them 'terroir' is not merely an expression of geology or geography: rather it is a concept that embraces the totality of life in the place where they live and everything about the way they conduct their lives in that place. Textbook Tavel, this is a meaty, generously flavored rosé with lots of stony mineral flavor to support the red fruit. Based on grenache from 40-year-old vines and blended with a host of local varietes, the wine seems to grow in size and complexity with air, herbal notes and grapefruit acidity adding lift and freshness. It's hearty enough to pair with seafood sausages; delivate enough to drink on its own.

    Josh Raynolds, June 2017

Vivid orange-pink. Fresh and focused on the nose, displaying mineral-tinged red berry and orange pith scents and a deeper suggestion of cherry pit. Taut and chewy on the palate, offering refreshingly bitter red currant and blood orange flavors underscored by a vein of juicy acidity. Closes supple, focused and quite long, leaving behind sappy red berry and tangerine notes.

There's lots to like here, from the juicy, energetic feel to the range of peach, cherry, pomegranate and blood orange flavors to the streak of tobacco that knits up the finish. Textbook Tavel. Grenach, Cinsault and Syrah.
