James Suckling on FELTON ROAD

Titre

"If Central Otago was the Côte de Nuits, then Bannockburn would likely be Vosne-Romanée and I’m going to hang it right out and say that Felton Road would be the top gun, the DRC."

November 2017

An attractive layer of rose-like florals here, then lighter berry fruits as well as a plethora of strawberry and wild raspberry fruits with appealing oak spice. The palate has nice focus and drive, and a handy light cherry pip tang. Resolved and fresh.

Jancis Robinson, November 2016

Initiallly shows more oak and less fruit on the nose than the Block 2. Lightly smoky to add complexity. On the palate, powerful, intense, and driving to a very long finish. A little bit of heat here but the weight of the fruit can take it and the finish is fresh and long. Smart Chardonnay that needs a little more time to mesh.
