A family-owned business, L'Ecole Nº 41 was founded by Jean and Baker Ferguson. Today, the winery is owned and operated by their daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Martin Clubb. Built in 1915, the schoolhouse is located in historic Frenchtown, a small community just west of Walla Walla, Washington. Classic Cabernet profile. This wine is focused and well integrated. Layers of dark fruit, coffee, violet and herbal notes shine through. Layers of plum, blackberry and cassis meld with fine tannins through the balanced finish.

This wine is 100% Cabernet, coming from Seven Hills, Loess, Summit View, Yellow Jacket, Stone Valley, Ferguson and Pepper Bridge vineyards. Locked-up aromas of barrel spice, toast, herb, vanilla and dark fruit give way to rich but well balanced black-fruit flavors. Lightly grainy tannins offer sufficient support.See detailed press review

(aged entirely in barriques, 25% new and less than 10% American; the vines that produce this blend average about 28 years of age, according to Marty Clubb): Moderately saturated bright medium ruby. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, cassis, dark chocolate, espresso and oak spices are lifted by a violet topnote. Dense, layered, warm-year Cabernet with fruit-dominated flavors of blackberry, cassis, plum and coffee. The tannins arrive late but are quite chewy and serious. This is L'Ecole No. 41's largest-production wine and a big success in 2014.See detailed press review
